One year for Flavio

A promise is a promise, so today I started of good will to update the lists (fortunately I use by years the calendar method on which I quickly jot down things I try and finish!). And I realized that I have not posted A ONLY thing I have done for my nephew. I'd put something on my website, but very little compared to the totality and variety of items that I made. You will find details and credits on the website or clicking on the pictures, so I will be very concise in the description because the photos are so many!
Let's start with the very first project I've made for my nephew, it was the first gift for him and the very first time I ever made a rag quilt. Thank you again so much to my dear friend Martina for her support and help. This is a crib version... Another pic here.
(all graphics by: ©MonJardin)
... This one the cot version. I was waiting for the perfect occasion to use these cross stitched squares, no better opportunity taht using them for my lovely nephew. Another pic here.
First time with baby dresses, even if I've made these funny animal hats in past....

... these waistcoats are for everyday dressing, the red and the blue ones are double face.

Però... basta chiedere alla zia, no?
Patchwork balls inspired by Patchwork Pottery, in three different sizes.
Cute bears at baby's palm size.
Grazie, cara!
These nursery school bas was glimpsed before; thank you again to Martina for her precious help.
From now till end, bibs! I made them for the first time to test, I was not sure my sister-in-law would find them comfy.
Second set: my sister-in-law found the first ones so comfortable to use that she asked me for more! Another pics here.
Only one but irresistible with that cat!.
Four set: we changed the model to increaze size and I made one with a lion appliqué. Another pic here.
Last picture, last bib and last finish: monster bibs!
Greetings from Flavio!

52 week project - 37 of 52

37th week: I forgot to post this photo before, and it was a luck as it's too late to shot what I planned for this Sunday. Next week I'll post some creations I've made in the past days, all for my nephew; for now, I've restyled the blog a little, with an updated header, bigger width and the new "social" buttons (with the new subscription, like Bloglovin and Hellocoton.fr). Do you like them?

52 week project - 33 of 52

Trentatreesima settimana: presto su questi schermi...
33th week: something for my nephew...

Springtime bag

Post promised to reveal the bag photographed in the last sneak peek of the 52 week project post: I had the honor to be a pattern tester for Patchwork Pottery for her Springtime bag, which I had already fallen in love with when Cotton Life published it.
I did some small diversification from the original, for example I placed the appliqué with a normal sewing instead of the expected (but sooner or later I'll have to challenge myself with it since I bought my sewing machine because it has five special quilting points!).
I also added a decoration to the inside pocket and the buttons on the back panel, to recall the "Matilda" theme, and I also made the coordinated keyholder not present in the pattern but only in the magazine.
Laurraine, thank you again for your generosity and your confidence in me!
I suggest you to visit her post where you will find all the links to purchase this wonderful pattern.
One final note: it does not appear in the photos, but the bag is really big, and it's easy and fun to make, I hope thanks to my modest contribution too :)

52 week project - 13 of 52

Tredicesima settimana... colori e forme... spugne e cotone... cosa saranno mai?
Thirteenth week ... colors and shapes ... sponges and cottons ... what would they be?

January cooking

One of the intentions of the new year was to continue the creativity in the kitchen and make at least one new recipe every week. Let's see the production in January.
The first three I've already shown you, prepared for the Epiphany: the salty croissants to various tastes and the leavened braid, one with Nutella and the other with peaches in syrup.
You have seen the cookies with heart of apples made for guests to my birthday, so I think it's time to move on.

I cannot always make cakes, so I tried these puff pastry breadsticks gorgonzola, I've also made some with baked ham for my fiance.
Recipe from Cooked and Eaten personalized.

Still salty are these muffins with olives, recipe by Sara. I found them a bit heavy to digest, too oily, I'll remember for next time.
Aren't they delicious the ones cut in half in the form of a rose (idea taken from Cooked and Eaten)? I used the form shown here.

Let's go back to the sweet: I made these caged pears for the fiance. I'm basically bundles of puff pastry with pears and plum jam. Recipe from Cooked and Eaten personalized.

This dish has a story in itself. I state that I have ever eaten nor minestrone nor vegetable soup in my life. I saw an episode of Chefs and flames and there was Riccardo Rossi who praised the chickpea soup made in the traditional way. Intrigued and following the basics, I've reinvented it according to our tastes, and we both liked it, how much we liked it!

Again salty with this recipe from Cooked and Eaten: it's a focaccia filled with baked ham. Simple but tasty.

Che bello fare felice un amico, no?
This last recipe of January is from Cooked and Eaten too: I did it to bring a lunch with a friend whose husband was obsessed with an apple pie with a pastry base that he always ate when he was in France . When he tasted it he was almost touched: it was just what he wanted. How can feel you good making a friend happy?

Speaking of January, I restarted to stitch and quilt, although I was quite busy and I have just completed two new blankets, one for the bedroom and one as a sofa cover.

Greetings from Ronny today, who after having taken possession of the antimacassar here and a here, she had to "mark" as hers also the blanket for the bed. Until next time!
