One year for Flavio

Una promessa è una promessa, quindi oggi mi sono messa di buona volontà ad aggiornare gli elenchi (fortuna che da anni uso il metodo del calendario grande in cui annoto velocemente le cose che provo e finisco!) e mi sono accorta che non ho postato UNA sola cosa che ho fatto per il mio nipotino. Avevo messo qualcosa sul mio sito, ma ben poco rispetto alla totalità e varietà di oggetti che ho realizzato (potete sbirciare qui a lato per rendervi conto).

Sarò quindi stringata nella descrizione delle foto, perché le foto sono davvero tante, sul sito o cliccando sulle foto troverete comunque maggiori dettagli con dimensioni, credits e links.
A promise is a promise, so today I started of good will to update the lists (fortunately I use by years the calendar method on which I quickly jot down things I try and finish!). And I realized that I have not posted A ONLY thing I have done for my nephew. I'd put something on my website, but very little compared to the totality and variety of items that I made. You will find details and credits on the website or clicking on the pictures, so I will be very concise in the description because the photos are so many!
Cominciamo con la primissima cosa che ho realizzato, in tutti i sensi visto che non era soltanto il primo regalo che facevo a mio nipote ma anche la prima volta che realizzavo un rag quilt. Grazie ancora alla mia amica Martina per il grande supporto e l'aiuto. Questa versione è per la culla... Altra foto qui. P.S. Let's start with the very first project I've made for my nephew, it was the first gift for him and the very first time I ever made a rag quilt. Thank you again so much to my dear friend Martina for her support and help. This is a crib version... Another pic here.

Altra cosa in cui non mi ero mai cimentata prima era l'abbigliamento per bambini, anche se questi sono un po' per divertimento...

... questi gilet sono "per davvero". Sono in due misure e tre colori diversi, quello blu e quello rosso sono reversibili.

Quanto è difficile trovare le palle a misura di palmo di bimbo! Però... basta chiedere alla zia, no?

Da qui a finire, la carrellata di bavaglini: questi sono i primi che ho fatto, per far provare a mia cognata il modello e capire se ci si trovava bene ad usarli.

From now till end, bibs! I made them for the first time to test, I was not sure my sister-in-law would find them comfy.

Seconda corposa tranche: visto che ci si è trovata comodissima, mia cognata mi ha richiesto "un po' di scorta". Altre foto qui.

Questo è singolo, ma davanti a questa stoffa come potevo resistere dal farlo?.

Quarta tranche: in questo caso abbiamo... mio padre ha modificato il modello per farlo più grande di collo, ho cambiato la forma sotto (anche se dalla foto non si vede) e ho fatto una versione con l'appliqué. Altra foto qui.

Ultimissimi bavaglini, anche in ordine temporale, sono questi mostruosi e divertentissimi.

Springtime bag

Post promesso per svelare la borsa fotografata nello sneak peek dell'ultimo post del 52 week project: ho avuto l'onore di fare la pattern tester per Patchwork Pottery per la Springtime bag, di cui mi ero già innamorata quando uscì per Cotton Life.
Post promised to reveal the bag photographed in the last sneak peek of the 52 week project post: I had the honor to be a pattern tester for Patchwork Pottery for her Springtime bag, which I had already fallen in love with when Cotton Life published it.

Ho fatto qualche piccola diversificazione rispetto l'originale, per esempio ho fissato le appliqué con una cucitura normale anziché quella prevista (ma prima o poi mi dovrò cimentare visto che ho comprato la mia macchina da cucire proprio perché aveva cinque punti quilting appositi!!).

I did some small diversification from the original, for example I placed the appliqué with a normal sewing instead of the expected (but sooner or later I'll have to challenge myself with it since I bought my sewing machine because it has five special quilting points!).

Ho anche aggiunto una decorazione alla tasca interna e i bottoni sul retro, per richiamare il tema "Matilda", e realizzato il portachiavi coordinato che non è presente nel pattern ma solo nella rivista.

I also added a decoration to the inside pocket and the buttons on the back panel, to recall the "Matilda" theme, and I also made the coordinated keyholder not present in the pattern but only in the magazine.

Un'ultima annotazione: dalla foto non sembra ma la borsa viene davvero grande, ed è facile e divertente da realizzare, spero anche grazie al mio modesto contributo :)

Spring finishes

Nel momento in cui state leggendo io starò partendo: starò via qualche giorno per partecipare alla comunione della mia figlioccia, ma ho lasciato in programmazione questo post per mandarvi un saluto e mostrarvi le ultime realizzazioni. Prima di tutto, ecco due uccellini di Patchwork Pottery: li ho leggermente modificati e li regalerò a mia suocera quando una certa altra sorpresa sarà pronta.

I'm travelling to my hometown right now to participate in the communion of my goddaughter, but I've planned this post to greet you and show the lastest finishes. First of all, let me show you these two Patchwork Pottery birds: I've changed them a little, and they will be gifted soon.

Questo invece è un regalo che ho già fatto, ho preparato questa sorpresina per la mia carissima amica Martina: è un set di due centrini per la sua sala rossa e bianca. Il pacchettino sopresa comprendeva anche un pattern di Fig Tree Quilts e sono contentissima che sia arrivato proprio il giorno di un'altra gradita sorpresa... Qui vedrete il post che Martina ha dedicato a questo mio piccolo pensiero, con foto decisamente migliori delle mie.

Surprise gift for my dear friend Martina too: I've make this crocheted set for her red & white dining room. The gift parcel included a Fig Tree Quilts' pattern too, and I'm soo glad it has arrived just the same time of another great surprise... Here you will see Martina's post.

Ispirata dai lavori raccolti in una delle mie gallerie di Flickr (soprattutto i lavori di Lil Fish Studios) e dal libro "Button! Button!", mi son divertita a giocare con fili d'ottone e bottoni. E siccome era da un po' che progettavo di farmi delle ghirlande stagionali da appendere alla porta, ho cominciato dalla nuova stagione: ecco la mia ghirlanda fuoriporta primaverile. Ho realizzato anche una rosa all'uncinetto con la lana e delle foglie in feltro (crochet rose pattern: ©Sarah London; rose leaves pattern: ©Dolci Fusa) nei colori primaverili ed ho abbellito il gancio con nastri in tinta.

Finally I've made the seasonal wreath for my frontdoor: that's the Spring button wreath! I've made two button minibouquets, a crocheted rose with felt leaves (crochet rose pattern: ©Sarah London; rose leaves pattern: ©Dolci Fusa) and I've placed ribbons at the top. You can see a collection of wonderful button bouquets into my Flickr gallery.

Non potevano mancare i libri, no? Ecco l'ultimo arrivo, da Delos Store: la serie completa (a parte il primo che avevo già) di Blood Ties, di Tanya Huff. Al momento ho già terminato il secondo "Tracce di sangue" e iniziato il terzo "Linee di sangue".

The last book arrival is the complete serie (except the first one already bought) of Blood Ties, by Tanya Huff, bought at Delos Store; I'm reading the third one.

Cupcakes mania

Sembra che non abbia più prodotto nulla da due mesi a questa parte, vero? Invece è solo che son rimasta indietro con le foto...
Era un po' di tempo che una persona mi chiedeva di farle dei puntaspilli a forma di cupcake, e quando la bravissima Laurraine ha realizzato il leaflet per farli come i suoi, non ho resistito: l'ho acquistato e ne ho realizzati tre decorativi, sostituendo le perline colorate ai puntaspilli.
I'm quite absent lately and probably you've thought I was lazy too... You're not totally right. Someone was asking me for some cupcake pincushions in the past times; when Laurraine has published her leaflet, I've suddenly purchased it and make three decorative cupcakes. I've added beads instead of pins.

Ecco una visione dall'alto che li rende ancora più morbidosi e... golosi. Ho tenuto per me quello rosso, per il mio centrotavola fruttoso, e le ho regalato gli altri due.
I've placed the red one on my centerpiece and gifted the other twos to my friend.

Ma poiché erano decorativi e non prettamente funzionali a fungere da puntaspilli veri e propri, la settimana scorsa ne ho realizzato un quarto a questo scopo, secondo le sue preferenze cromatiche.
Last week I made a fourth cucpcakes for her, so she can use it as a real pincushion.

Shopping (Update 1 of 4)

Oh, Cielo, il tempo è volato! Mi sembra ieri che è cominciato l'autunno e oggi ho appeso il calendario dell'Avvento! Mi sa che quest'anno faticherò oltremodo ad entrare in clima natalizio.
Non che sia stata propriamente con le mani in mano, in questo periodo di sporadico aggiornamento, ma diciamo che ho avuto parecchie distrazioni.
Le foto forse le avrete già adocchiate sul mio sito o sul mio album online, quindi saprete che sono uno sproposito, le dividerò perciò per tema: realizzazioni creative (tra cui un regalo per il matrimonio della cara Bea, che avrà un post singolo), acquisti e arrivi vari, tribù felina. Partiamo? Direi di iniziare dagli acquisti e arrivi vari...

How much time has passed from the last update (except the giveaway notes)! It seems yesterday it has started the Fall season and today I've hanged the Advent calendar! It would be hard to find the Christmas spirit for me, this year. Anyway, I have so many photos to share with you: some purchases, subscription arrivals, my lastest finishes and my gorgeus cat tribe. I will post them splitting by theme and starting with the shopping! Yeah!

Il posto d'onore lo occupa sicuramente questo splendore: la Honda CBF125! Scelta, studiata, ricercata, non trovata, attesa, agognata ed infine ottenuta! La moto è del fidanzato anche se, finito il rodaggio e tornata la bella stagione, ci salirò anch'io, rigorosamente dietro; ancora non scelgo il casco, ne ho visto uno che mi piaceva ma non c'era la mia taglia (complimenti allo spirito d'osservazione di Martina, l'unica che ha notato questo dettaglio). Anche se di piccola cilindrata (125cc) fa la sua brava figura, non trovate?

Quest'arrivo è piuttosto vecchiotto ed è stato molto combattuto, nel senso che ho letteralmente litigato con il negozio: mi han fatto dannare, venire il sangue amaro e decidere di non comprare più da loro. Peccato, perché aveva molta scelta, ma il servizio clienti è vergognoso (a parte la signora che molto gentilmente alla fine ha sbrogliato la matassa, andando anche contro il suo direttivo), la gestione dell'account impossibile e i tempi d'attesa biblici, non segnalati quando si fa l'ordine. "A parte" questo, ho preso una rivista e due booklets della grande Joanna Figueroa.

I will not buy at them anymore: inconclusive customer service, mistakes with orders with consequent custom fees and shipping costs raised, and unacceptable waits for the orders, usually waits of months!!

Anche questo è stato un arrivo un po' travagliato perché l'han dovuto spedire due volte affinché me ne arrivasse almeno una copia, ma ne è valsa la pena: la prima uscita di Quilter's Connection contiene un fantastico progetto di Patchwork Pottery. Ormai dovreste saperlo: sono una sua devota fan.

Questo è stato un acquisto folle e inaspettato, ma ne sono pienamente soddisfatta: il netbook Asus EeePC 1001HA. Abbiamo dovuto fare una levataccia, poi più di due ore di fila ma finalmente l'abbiamo ottenuto. Ora dovrò fare le custodie, sto studiando il modello migliore.
